Community service is a contribution that we love giving back to Tallahassee. Being a leader starts in Kappa Delta and extends throughout campus and beyond. KD provides leadership positions and opportunities that cannot be found elsewhere. With sisters playing significant roles in areas such as Panhellenic Executive Board, Dance Marathon Overall Committee, Homecoming Executive Board, Emerging Leaders, Student Alumni Association, Student Government, Garnet and Gold Key Honorary Society, Orientation Leaders, Seminole Student Boosters Executve Board and many more. KD Ladies can be seen everywhere. We love to serve the Greek, FSU, and Tallahassee communities. In the Greek community, we enjoy participating in other sorority and fraternity philanthropies and charity events. Some of our favorites are Cheers for Charity (hosted by Phi Gamma Delta) and Line Dance (hosted by Pi Lambda Phi). We also work hard to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network every year at Florida State's annual Dance Marathon event held at the Tallahassee Civic Center. This year we also had several sisters serve on the Overall and Morale Committees! We are very close with a local Girl Scout Troop, and every year we help them sell their famous Girl Scout cookies, as well as help them earn badges and include them in our philanthropies as well! Kappa Delta does not limit its leadership to Florida State University's campus. Found across the city of Tallahassee and the surrounding community, our sisters volunteer in two local hospitals, nursing homes, homeless shelters, preschools, and many local churches. Most importantly, we host our own philantrhopy event in the Spring.
Each year, every Kappa Delta chapter hosts a Shamrock Event. Ours takes place in December, benefiting Prevent Child Abuse America and the Children's Home Society of Florida. It is a 5-k run/walk called ShamRock -N Run. We also hold Manhunt every year in March. Manhunt is a two-day paintball tournament, and is a favorite philanthropy among the fraternity gentlemen of FSU. The event takes place over two days, one for members of the community, and one for members of Greek life. On Community Day, local businesses come out to support our philanthropy, participating in the paintball tournament, and children from Children's Home Society of Florida also come out to help us support our teams! On Greek Day, fraternities and sororities form teams to compete with each other for the coveted first place trophy. We have raised thousands of dollars to help children at the local and national level who need our support and have helped to elevate awareness for these organizations. Over the past ten years, we have raised well over $50,000. Thank you to all of our generous sponsors and participants.
